Editorial Methodology

How ErrorHarbor researches, writes, reviews and updates technical troubleshooting pages.

Reader-first standard

Every core guide should answer two questions quickly: “Am I on the right page?” and “What is the safest useful thing to try first?”

How guides are structured

  1. Match the exact error and environment.
  2. Offer a safe Quick Fix.
  3. Explain how to verify the result.
  4. Branch into diagnosis only if the problem remains.
  5. Separate community reports from editorial guidance.

Quality controls

Priority pages are expected to meet an internal Article Quality Score before publication. We avoid publishing multiple thin pages for essentially the same intent, and we do not fabricate testing, solved rates or community outcomes.

Updates

Guides are reviewed when software behavior changes, search queries reveal a new dominant variant, readers report failures, or rankings indicate that the page no longer matches current intent.

Corrections & updates

If a guide contains an incorrect command, unsafe recommendation, outdated version note, or materially misleading explanation, we review the report and update the page when warranted. See the Corrections Policy for details.
